Class Topics (Choose Three)
  1. Hunter Safety Course: Opportunity to EARN your MDNR Safety Certificate - for the first 12 participants that sign up for it. Mandatory attendance at class times and pre-course assignment. You know how to shoot. You may want to go hunt. You will need a Hunter Safety Certificate, if you were born after January 1, 1960, to purchase a Michigan Hunting License. This is sure to be an enjoyable class to earn your hunter safety certificate and enjoy WWOW. This Hunter Safety Class will be one of your WWOW sessions. There will be a pre-course assignment mailed to your home before the WWOW weekend. This assignment must be completed before the start of class, 4pm on Friday. Attendance to all class sessions is required, Friday 4pm-9pm, with a break for dinner, and Saturday 8:30am-Noon. You must attend all sessions & pass a written evaluation & safe firearms handling exercise, to successfully complete this course.
  2. Basic Archery: Learn about equipment (Recurve, Long Bow, Compound) and stance; learn and practice shooting fundamentals. Try shooting form ground, tents and tree stands.
  3. Intermediate Archery: MUST PROVIDE OWN EQUIPMENT. (If you borrow a bow make sure it "fits" YOU, don't bring a 60 lb bow that you can't pull back with ease) Some experience required. Tips and practicing techniques to improve your skills. Take a nice walk around our wooded grounds and practice shooting at 3-D targets along the way.
  4. Falconry - the Sport of Kings (and Queens): (2nd Session only) Falconry, the art of hunting wild game with a trained raptor, is thousands of years old and is still practiced today. In addition, participants will learn how to live and recreate safely in the presence of snakes, and how to prevent and treat snakebite. You'll also be given opportunities to interact with a variety of local snakes on a personal level. Interested individuals will receive further training on becoming a volunteer snake responder, which will include safely moving a "problem" snake using a broom and trash barrel.
  17.
