Jr. Rifle Begins Saturday January 13th from 1:00PM to 4:00PM!
NRA Marksmanship Qualification Shooting is an informal, year-round activity for youngsters and people of all ages.

Qualification shooting is an informal, year-round recreational shooting activity that provides incentive awards for developing and improving marksmanship skills. It's a drill. We set the standards; you meet the challenge! Progression is self-paced and scores are challenging but attainable. Performance is measured against established par scores and any shooter who meets or exceeds those scores is entitled to the corresponding recognition awards for that rating. It's an honor system!

Qualification shooting is the ideal way to develop and build shooting proficiency by progressing through each skill level, from Pro-Marksman through Distinguished Expert.

All Programs are conducted on Saturdays, check our Event Schedule for details.

Small Bore Rifle (seasonal outdoors)

Participants shoot for record on standard Basic Marksmanship and NRA 50-foot smallbore targets.
Participants work toward the standard NRA Sport Shooting and American Rifleman Qualifications that are
also used by adult shooters. Ranks start at Pro-Marksman, then Marksman, then
Marksman First Class, then Sharpshooter, then nine more ranks until Expert.
Beyond Expert, extraordinary shooters may continue to Distinguished Expert. Each
of the initial ranks require a set of targets with a score above a certain
minimum. Each rank must be earned in order. For each Qualification that a
participant earns, he or she is presented with a Certificate and a Patch or seal for thier certificate.

Pistol (seasonal outdoors)

We will use the Handgun and Bullseye Pistol qualification programs as shooters progress from relatively easy to more difficult types of pistol shooting. As with the other programs above, these programs build marksmanship skills through progressive steps from Pro-Marksman through Distinguished Expert. In this program we will use .22 caliber semi-automatic pistols.

Air Rifle (seasonal indoors)

This indoor program also uses the Sport Shooting and American Rifleman qualification courses. The course of fire in the qualification program introduces new shooters to the sport using the benchrest or prone-supported positions before progressing to Sitting, Kneeling, and standing positions. These positions are designed to help shooters reinforce basic shooting fundamentals during early stages of development. The course of fire progresses from 3 shots, to 20 shots, to an optional 40 or 60 shots. The required number of shots in the course also increases in stages to help new shooters develop the strength and endurance necessary to complete a full course of fire. The course of fire for women in world championships is 40 shots; the course of fire for men in world championships is 60 shots. Qualification shooters have the option of qualifying for ratings using either the 40- or 60-shot course of fire. Air rifle qualification shooting is an excellent recreational and social activity for families, neighborhood groups, clubs, and leagues.

Air Pistol (seasonal indoors)

This air pistol qualification course of fire is designed to introduce shooters to the challenge of air pistol shooting by first introducing the benchrest and two-handed standing positions before progressing to the one-handed standing position. The required number of shots in the course also increases in stages to help new shooters develop the strength and endurance necessary to complete a full course of fire. The course of fire for women in world championships is 40 shots; the course of fire for men in world championships is 60 shots. Participants in the qualification program have the option of qualifying for ratings using either the 40- or 60-shot course of fire.
