Congress responds to antis’ efforts to ban lead in ammo and fishing tackle April 19th, 2011 by MUCC Staff.
Members of the Congressional Sportsmen's Caucus are loading up their legislative firepower against anti-hunting animal rights advocates in their attempt to ban the use of lead in ammunition and fishing tackle. While not introduced yet, the "Hunting, Fishing and Recreational Shooting Sports Protection Act" is set to be introduced in the U.S. House and Senate. The legislation comes as a response to a lawsuit filed by the Center for Biological Diversity that seeks to force the EPA to "develop and implement regulations [on] shot, bullets and lead containing fishing tackle."
If the name "Center for Biological Diversity" (CBD) sounds familiar, it's the same anti-hunting animal rights group that has been in the news recently against the science-based de-listing of gray wolves from the Endangered Species Act and state management of wolves.
