Reward for Tagged Walleye in Lake Huron and Lake Erie Corridor Waters April 25th, 2011 by MUCC Staff. The U.S. Department of Geological Survey (USGS), with the support of the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, the Great Lakes Fishery Commission and Carleton University (Canada) have created a walleye tracking study for the Lake Huron/Lake Erie corridor.  The purpose of the study is to increase our knowledge of walleye movement and to better manage the fishery of these waters.   They have established a $100 reward for anglers who catch and keep a tagged walleye from these waters and report and return the internal transmitter to the USGS Hammond Bay Biological Station.  This website explains the program in detail.

MUCC encourages anglers fishing in the Lake Huron/Lake Erie corridor to support this program by returning the transmitters from tagged walleye to the USGS. Here's what to look for (click image to enlarge photo):
